Performer’s Kitchen 2017-2018

About

The performers participating in the March 2018 Performer’s Kitchen edition will have the chance to work alongside composer and performer Antoine Beuger (Netherlands), cofounder of the Wandelweiser Group. Antoine Beuger is a long time collaborator of the Quatuor Bozzini. He came to Montréal three times in the context of collaborations with QB musicians, who recognize the importance of the æsthetic influence Beuger and Wandelweiser had on them throughout the years — the CD recorded by the QB and dedicated to the music of Jürg Frey, another member of Wandelweiser, is one example of this influence. Performer’s Kitchen 2018Antoine Beuger will mentor the participants for three days, concluding with a closing concert featuring the works prepared during the residency, and participants will be able attend a performance he will deliver side by side with the Quatuor Bozzini musicians.

Performer’s Kitchen

The Performer’s Kitchen is a workshop-laboratory produced by Quatuor Bozzini to ensure the training of new generations of performers who wish to strengthen their abilities in new music performance. During these workshops, the participants benefit from the presence of experienced performers, both specialized in and passionate about the various repertoires of contemporary music. The Performer’s Kitchen constitutes an ideal opportunity to explore, polish and master instrumental practices arising from this music in a casual environment, while becoming familiar with the most recent æsthetic trends. Through this periodic performance residency, Quatuor Bozzini aims at making sure that present-day instrumental techniques pass from one generation to another, and that they become widespread natural practices.
