Aerial XXII

François Houle

Aerial XXII has been performed in Montréal…

Aerials XXII sets solo clarinet compositions and improvisations upon a canvas of string quartet vignettes drawn from several sources; musical postcards, travel logs, computer generated notation and improvisational strategies. The piece comes together as the players make decisions to occupy the musical space by selecting from this set of musical material, either individually, in sub-groupings, or tutti. The work is inspired after a reading of Giorgio Agamben’s Profanazioni and is dedicated to my wonderful musical friends of BQ and their family.
