Keuper has been performed in Berlin, Brno, Montréal, Schwaz, Vancouver and Victoria…
The piece tries to reflect the character of the sandstone “Keuper,” which is typical for the region Lokale Musik takes its sources and which is characterised as earnest, closed, ascetic, desertlike, mediating the introvertedness of the landscape around Fürth. Dances in changing meters (called “Zwiefache”), originating from neighbouring Czechia, are placed on top of each other in parallel. All tones which appear at least twice (in different dances at the same vertical point) are passed through a filter. All remaining tones are kept — these are the exceptions, the outsiders. These “outsider tones” are given different modes of playing, to evoke the character of the sandstone “Keuper.”
