Les petites portes has been performed in Montréal, Sherbrooke, Vancouver and Whitehorse…
The doors in the title hearken back to a childhood memory. A large, dark blue image on a cardboard sheet, with perforated doors numbered 1-25. Starting on the 1st of December, my sisters and I would take turns opening one door each day until Christmas. Behind each door was a new illustration, each one different from the last. Even as the years went by, we never seemed to tire of this ritual. So here are 7 small open doors — in theory I should still have 18 left to compose… The sounds on the disc began as samples from a 2003 Quatuor Bozzini studio recording originally made for a choreography by Dominque Porte (sound engineer: Robert Langlois). There are also sounds from an electric piano, and a vinyl record of Bartók’s 4th String Quartet (4th movement).
